Ally is passionate about dance that exudes feminine fierceness and fun. Her favorite style is a combination of jazz and hiphop, complete with a spritz of hair-ography. Ally has danced with EDC since the beginning of her freshman year, and has no plans of stopping! She is extremely excited and thankful for her choreography debut.

This is Ashley’s 5th semester with EDC and her 2nd semester choreographing. She has been dancing since she was a little tyke and her favorite styles are Contemporary and Jazz. She is thrilled to be choreographing a Jazz piece for EDC this semester and can’t wait to see the talent Emerson has to offer!

My style is primarily based in the traditions of heavy shoe dancing, which places an emphasis on rhythm, fancy footwork, and sound. For the coming semester, I'm excited to be working with the phenomenal Briana Brochu because collaboration can yield some unexpected results. I've been with EDC for two awesome semesters. Fun Fact: I was once Harry Houdini for Halloween.

Being with EDC for the past 2 years has been such a rewarding and fun experience as a choreographer, but also as a dancer. I'm so excited to team up with Brendan O'Brien this semester for an Irish tap/hard shoe number that will knock everyone's socks off!

Mostly, I just love to groove to some tunes. Emerson Dance Company has been a fun group of people to do that with! I love mangos and raspberries and when I can see my breath in the winter time.

Tap, which has always been my favorite style of dance, allows you to be creative not only through the movements of your body, but through the sounds of your feet. There are so many styles of tap, but I personally love adding a bit of silliness and character to my performances. If you're interested in tapping, shakin' your groove thang, and glitter, audition for my piece! You will be happy you did!

I love pieces that tell a story. Therefore I hope to take the audience on a journey throughout my piece. I am looking forward working with my dancers and see the final piece up on stage. I have been with EDC since I was a Freshman and I am so excited that this semester I am able to choreograph for them.

Emily Skibo

Emily has been with EDC since her first semester at Emerson. This will be her second time choreographing a modern piece for EDC.  She is very excited to be given this opportunity and to be working with such fierce and talented dancers!

Gina Bowen

Gina Bowen is a senior Writing, Literature and Publishing major. She attended Northeast Youth Ballet in Melrose, MA for seven years, where she focused on classical ballet training. Gina has danced with Emerson Dance Company since her sophomore year and is currently choreographing her second piece for Emerson Dance Company, which will be preformed at EDC's Fall showcase.

Holly Griffith

Holly G is so jazzed (ha!) to be gearing up for another semester of choreography. She is looking for dancers of ALL levels of ability for a huge, show-stopping swing jazz piece to Greased Lightning. Anyone who shows up to auditions with a leather jacket and a Danny Zuko coif gets brownie points.

I would describe my style as free. I'm all about feeling the music and following the natural impulses in my body. I'm sooo excited to choreograph for my first large-scale audience. It is a little intimidating but I love the challenge. This is my third semester with EDC

As a theatre major I have always been fascinated with the history of American performance art and since Burlesque is a lost art being reborn in our contemporary industry, people forget that Burlesque was the style that launched the eras of Vaudeville and the golden years of Broadway. My style will focus mainly on the Vaudevillian style of Burlesque, when the ladies depended on their acting skills and outrageous gimmicks, to keep their acts enticing. My choreography will be a playful empowerment of women on the stage, with a look back at where it all began.

I've been with EDC for 6 semesters. 7 if you count this one. I'm most excited to choreograph because I never have before. The piece I will be choreographing is very grounded and fluid. It's not extremely technical, but explores new and interesting ways to move. When I was 7 I ate a whole pound of bacon in one sitting and I can make a moustache out of my hair.

The style of my piece is a combination of contemporary and jazz with a bit of Latin influence! I’m so excited to be choreographing with EDC for the first time, as well as stepping out of my style comfort zone. This semester will be my third with EDC. Fun Fact: I learned a solid amount of the ASL that I know from the new TV series Switched at Birth and I’m not ashamed to say it.

What I've got brewing is a hard hitting contemporary. I'm looking for dancers that are technically very strong, but exude a very particular style of their own. I'm  a bit nervous to bring my choreography out from the privacy of my dorm room, but with my training in Latin, ballet, hip-hop, and contemporary, I think the result will be pretty unique : )

Shannon Sweeney

Shannon is a Political Communications major with dance and women and gender studies minors from New Hampshire.  She is mainly a contemporary choreographer that loves to make the dance for her dancers and make every dance organic and feel so good to dance

I'm a classically trained ballerina with a soft-spot for lyrical, contemporary and modern. This year I'm choreographing a "dirty" contemporary piece with a lot of attention to line and creating abstract shapes with the body. This will be my third semester with EDC but my first semester as a choreographer and a member of the General Board so I'm very excited to be able to help the company continue to grow.
